Fort Caroline National Memorial commemorates the story of 16th century French explorers and colonists who attempted to establish their presence in what is today northeast Florida. Visitors will be immersed in tales of courage, resilience and blunders of the French as they encountered the harsh environment, Timucua Indians and their European competitors, the Spanish.
Visitors to the site are introduced to the wider grand history of the area associated with a designated American Heritage River, the St. Johns. At this site visitors have the opportunity to experience the breathtaking beauty of the region with just a simple stroll along the park’s trails and take in all that this gem has to offer.
